Who are we?

Dr. Jeroen M. van der Velden is the initiator of this platform. He has been involved in the introduction of New Ways of Working at several organisations, including Shell Global Solutions, Wageningen University, Heineken International, ING, and the Dutch Tax authority.
In the 1990’s, he received his Ph.D. at the Technical University of Delft for research on the effects of Groupware applications on collaboration in teams. He was responsible for the development of the Delft MediaLab for investigation of on-line collaboration and usability testing.
He has extensive experience in strategy implementation and organisational development.
Jeroen is also Associate Professor strategy alignment at Nyenrode Business University.
He is a regular speaker and author on the subject.

Manuela Melis (M.Sc.) – together with Jeroen van der Velden - introduced New Ways of Teamworking in Heineken International, focusing on improving collaboration in international teams through introduction of Groupware.
Manuela is project manager and interim manager, with emphasis on improving organisational performance.
She has experience with realising organisational changes en introducing innovations (Schiphol Groep, NCRV, Hoofdbedrijfschap afbouw en ondferhoud, Heineken International).

Karst Westra MSC received his Master degree on the research topic of social determinants that induce virtual team creativity and innovation. He supports organizations realizing sustainable solutions to effectively and efficiently collaborate across space, time and organizational boundaries. Herewith, Karst sets out from the human and organizational perspective to consequently adopt and align the technical dimension. From this vision he was involved in realizing innovations and new ways of working (together) in various organizations. He has experience in project management as well as research projects. Philip Todd (M.Sc.) studied economics and social sciences, and held various marker research and marketing functions, at companies such as Amro Bank and Digital Equipment Corporation.
Until 2008 he was Director of EwerkForum, a foundation promoting time- and place-independent work in The   ourNetherlands; DistantTeamwork is one of the participants of this forum.
Philip is a regular speaker on - and session chairman of - seminars and conferences on e-work en New Ways of Working, both in The Netherlands and abroad. He is also often quoted in the media for his bold statements on the subject.
His expertise is focused on e-work consultancy: where dou you start, and how do you do introduce e-work / New Ways of working in organisations.

Dr. Arie Baan has been involved with the introduction of New Ways of Working in Royal Dutch Shell, supporting this organisation’s rapid and deep globalisation since the 1990’s.
He managed the development, introduction, and execution of learning programmes for improving efficiency and effectiveness of virtual teams and workgroups.
He advises and supports organisations in creating optimal environments for sustainable distant collaboration.
Arie is a regular speaker and author on this topic, and is also involved in research at Delft Technical University in the field of virtual teamworking.

Han van der Pool (M. Sc.)  has been actively involved in the implementation of Ahold Networking in Royal Ahold, and he has developed the Heineken Virtual Learning Center, where employees of Heineken International can participate in virtual discussion groups.
Han specialises in developing international management programmes for multinational companies, and in implementing e-learning.
He is a regular speaker on the topic.
